Get to Know the Person Behind the Books

Head-shot of a middle-aged woman with a red shirt and glasses standing on the beach.

Juggling motherhood and a full-time career has kept me incredibly busy. However, these experiences inspired me to use my voice to help others. I began my advocacy work as a childbirth educator and doula. Then, when my youngest was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at a young age, I evolved into a disability advocate. That advocacy work has evolved into Bravery Books.

Motivated by life’s challenges as a T1D mom, I decided to channel my skills into sharing empowering stories. Through my company Bravery Books, my goal is to actively cultivate courage and hope in readers of all ages. By telling stories of people overcoming life’s challenges, I celebrate chronic illness heroes and teach appreciation for grit. I aim to inspire others to find inner strength by spotlighting the experiences of Diabetic Warriors, the Superheros who protect them and other Advocates.

While being a mom shaped my love of helping others, my writing lets me positively impact people beyond my family. I hope the stories from Bravery Books motivate, teach empathy and show that inner strength comes in different forms.

“Mother” of four amazing kiddos will always be my proudest title. But being an advocacy author is now something that I’m pretty darned proud of too!

As an Aside:

Although the original nonfiction collection of mothering stories, Superhero Moms, Warrior Kids is now complete, I am always exploring options for lifting more voices. Please check out the Current Projects page for ways you might contribute to my next nonfiction story project.
